Dear CPFU Member,
On Monday the Appropriations Committee voted to recommend the SEBAC Agreement. It is now up to the Connecticut General Assembly to vote on the contracts we ratified. If the General Assembly does not approve this contract it means no new contract or raises, increased staffing shortages, and the deterioration of public services from continued disinvestment.
We need every member to contact your own state representative and senator and tell them to approve the contract. If you have not already done so, you can email them with this link.
But more importantly, we need you to call your representative and senator, as they consider phone calls a higher priority than email. It only takes a couple minutes. Here is how:
- Click this link and type in your name, address, and number;
- You will get a phone call that will connect you to your state representative and state senator
- You will likely leave a message with a legislative aide. Below is a sample script you can use.
Sample Script
Hi, my name is __________, and I live in ___________. I am also a [job title] at [agency] where I [briefly describe job].
I’m calling to ask you to protect public services by supporting the SEBAC Agreement. These are fair and honorable agreements that will allow the state to attract and retain the workforce it needs to provide services to our communities. Voting “no” means voting to worsen the staffing crises and deteriorate public services.
[Add your own story about why your job/agency is important for CT, short staffing, what you did during the pandemic, and/or what this contract means to you and your family]
I hope I can count on you to vote yes on the SEBAC Agreement.
[If they say “yes” ] Thank you! Your leadership means a lot to me.
